Featured Dogs
The following dogs are being featured and are available for adoption right now! If you see one that you like, you may contact us through this web site and an ARC representative will discuss the pet in further detail. Or you can call (239) 731-3535 for information or for directions to ARC between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Also, please know that there are more dogs to choose from who currently call ARC home! If you don’t see one that you connect with featured on this site, PLEASE come to the shelter to meet all of our residents in person! Visiting hours at the shelter are from noon to 4:00 PM daily, except major holidays.
In order to be considered as an adopter, you must:
- Be 21 years old or older;
- Have a current photo ID showing age and current address;
- Be willing and able to provide training, medical care and loving attention for a pet; and
- Pay adoption fees.

- Off-site dog adoptions are every 2nd and 4th weekend from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Petco (the Forum store off Colonial Blvd Ft Myers). Adoption fees are $75.00 for dogs regardless of age or if they are pure breeds or not. They are spayed or neutered, vaccines appropriate to age, tested for FIV/Luk (cats) and heartworm (dogs) micro-chipped and come with 1 month of free pet insurance.

Gidget is a small hound mix about 7 to 8 years old. She is very social to the staff and the volunteers she has come to know. She has learned things such as to give paw, give a kiss for a treat, sit and is learning to walk nicely on a leash. She would make a great companion to an older family where she could spent her days sleeping lazily in your lap as you are watching TV or reading a book. She has lots of love to share.

Pearl is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix about 3 years old. She is very friendly with the volunteer and staff she has come to know and trust. She knows a few cues such as sit and wait at the gate. She would do best in a home with no children or small animals.

Breed: Shepherd mix
Paul Mitchell is a high energy, high drive male. He would be great at Agility, Fly Ball or any other outdoor canine sport. He enjoys working and loves to play on the agility equipment in the training area. He knows sit, down and is learning to walk nicely on a leash. He is very happy to please and loves to train. He will do Puppy Push ups for treats and give paw. He would do best in an active family with no small children or other animals to allow him to continue to blossom into a loyal and loving K9 Companion.

Frazier is an active Beagle mix, about 5 years old. He needs a home that can provide structure and daily exercise. Due to the high energy level he would do best in a home without small children or other small animals. He knows sit, down and will walk nicely on a leash.
Calypso

Calypso is a Bullmastiff mix, between 5 & 6 years old. Because of her size she would do best in a home with no small children or small animals. She is currently learning to greet people with all four feet on the floor and she is learning a few basic cues such as sit and watch me. She walks well on a leash but does have issues with some other dogs.
Jujy

Jujy is a medium-sized, Black Mouth Cur mix between 1 and 2 years old. She is eager to please, and bonds quickly. She understands sit, and down. She is also learning to wait at the gate before exiting.

Chantilly would do best in a home as the only animal. She is a high energy dog and for that reason would do best in a home with adults that have an active life style to help her redirect her high energy into positive things such as long walks or as a jogging companion. She loves to run. She does understand a few basic cues such as sit, and wait to be leashed.

Jazzy is a Chinese Shar-Pei mix, about 3 years old. She is an active female that is in need of an active home that can provide the structure and routine to help her become the loyal and loving companion she so wants to become. She loves people and understands a few basic cues such as sit and wait at the gate. She would love to learn to play fetch and other interactive games with her future human companions.

Daphney is a Canaan Terrier, about 5 years old. She is a good natured female that loves to play in the hose and roll around on her back in the shade of the tree in her kennel area. She needs time to get to know new people but once she bonds she is a loyal friend.

Butch is a terrier hound mix. He adores females and some males. He walks nice on a leash and is learning to sit before exiting his lodge area. He is quiet and laid back most of the time. He enjoys being inside his lodge in Air conditioning in the heat of the day. He is a confident male and would do best in a home as the only dog.
You may visit him any day (except certain holidays) between 12:00 and 4:00p.m.
