  Animal Refuge Center’s Mission

Why we do it:  Protect and Save Lives | Improve Lives | Humane Treatment

How we do it:  Outreach | Provide Care  | Screening

ARC is a  501c(3) corporation whose purpose  is to promote the adoption of spayed/neutered pets into responsible homes, to provideoutreach veterinary assistance, to provide interim shelter and medical care to homeless, injured or abandoned animals, to provide community education and public awareness as to the needs and care of animals, to develop an advocacy program on behalf of animals and pet owners in the community, to alleviate suffering animals whenever possible, and to uphold the philosophy of non-euthanasia of any healthy animals accepted to the shelter.

We each have a huge job to do, because the  numbers are staggering . . .

The number of cats and dogs entering animal shelters annually is 12 million and the number euthanized is close to 6 million.

  • Each day in the United States, 12,000 homeless pets will be euthanized across the country.

  •  Each year approximately 4,000 animals are euthanized in Lee County alone.

We Need Your Help

ARC survives only on donations.  Though we have a lot of fun at events throughout the year, the Animal Refuge Center could not survive were it not for the kindness and generosity of the public.  Through donations acquired by caring people, ARC has cared for and found homes for thousands of animals over the past 20+ years.  Just $5 can go a long way so please consider a donation! Learn more about donations, online donations, or any one of our donation programs by browsing this website.

Get Involved

If you love animals and want to do something to help, please considering becoming an ARC Volunteer.  As much as donations are a critical part of the operations of the Animal Refuge Center, so is volunteering. Without our caring, generous and selfless ARC volunteers, ARC could not exist.  There are a TON of things that you can do to volunteer ~ help socialize animals, walk dogs, feed the animals, help with basic cleaning in the cat cottages, make repairs at the shelter, attend events, help with marketing, Facebook updates, take photos, submit press releases,  and many many more things  To apply, you will need to fill out our volunteer application.

There is no end to the rewarding possibilities with ARC!

  • ARC’s Antique Day was a Huge Success
Once again, we thank the generosity of the Crowne Plaza for sponsoring this event and providing spacious accommodations and refreshments. Also, very special thanks go to the appraisers whose knowledge and expertise covered an incredible range of items. Appraisers included the charming Peter Curran from the Antique  Road Show and Henry Eckert from Naples. [ […]
